NHS funds 'removed from poor areas'

Labour has accused the government of allocating more money for the NHS to richer parts of England, at the expense of mostly northern poorer regions.

Areas with higher rates of poor health have previously received more money per resident, but this has been reduced as part of changes to the way primary care trusts are funded.

But the government says NHS spending is going up in real terms across England and Labour's claims are misleading.
