Basildon hospital: 'My mother was not a priority'
Standards of care at 14 hospitals with the worst death rates in England are to be laid bare in a report on Tuesday.
The investigation was launched earlier this year in the wake of the public inquiry into the Stafford Hospital scandal.
The trusts all had higher-than-expected death rates from 2010-11 to 2011-12.
The trusts which have been investigated include Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
In March, Basildon hospital's chief executive Clare Panniker acknowledged past failings but said it was turning a corner.
Daniel Chapple's mother Pamela died at the hospital in February. He set up a Basildon branch of lobbying group "Cure the NHS" after her death.
His mother died of a brain haemorrhage and he has concerns about the care she received.
