Women alcohol death rise surprising

A report has identified a ''worrying rise'' in alcohol related deaths among women in their 30s and 40s.

They say the emerging trend among women born in the 1970s is an early warning sign about the long term health of a generation which needs to be acted upon.

Bruce Whyte, Public Health Programme Manager in Glasgow, and one of the authors of the report, said the results were surprising.
