Hospitals in England to publish staffing levels

Hospitals in England will be made to publish monthly updates on nursing figures in their wards from April 2014, the health secretary has announced.

The move is one of a range of measures outlined by Jeremy Hunt in response to the public inquiry into the Stafford Hospital scandal.

RCN general secretary Peter Carter said the "greater transparency" will raise the issue of whether there are enough staff available.
