'Tackling inequality' can prevent cancer

The world is facing a "tidal wave" of cancer, and restrictions on alcohol and sugar need to be considered, say World Health Organization scientists.

Prof Sir Michael Marmot, director of University College London's Institute of Health Equity, explained to BBC Radio 4's Today programme that "more and more of use will die of cancer" as people are living longer and at greater risk of getting cancer later in life.

He added that "inequality" as well as poverty needs to be tackled to improve the prevention of cancer.
