Saturated fats debate: 'Our advice would not change'
Guidelines urging people to swap saturated fats - found in foods like butter, cheese and fatty meats - to polyunsaturated fats may be misguided, a new report suggests.
Researchers looked at data from 72 studies, with more than 600,000 participants, and found little evidence of a link between saturated fats and a higher risk of heart disease.
But speaking to the BBC, Prof Jeremy Pearson, associate medical director at the British Heart Foundation, warned that more research was needed.
He said: "Our advice at the moment wouldn't change from what it was yesterday."
