Fears of an end to a 'free NHS' within next decade

The NHS is under so much strain that patients could be forced to pay for services within 10 years, according to some health and social care experts.

The poll of 78 people by the think tank, the Nuffield Trust, also predicted a funding crisis in the health service before the next election.

The Department of Health says the report paints an unrealistic picture.
