Antibiotic resistance 'escalating'

Resistance to antibiotics has "escalated" and unless new drugs are discovered the world risks moving into a post-antibiotic era, the president of the Intensive Care Society has said.

Prof Mark Bellamy told BBC News that he has seen patients that cannot be treated with existing medicine in normal doses.
