Brazilian artist makes sculptures from whalebones

The sculptor Hamilton Coelho lives alone at the end of the longest beach in the world, Praia do Cassino, in the extreme south of Brazil.

His home, looking out on to the Atlantic ocean, is the very last house in the country, just 50 metres from the Uruguayan border.

He built it himself from parts of a shipwreck he found washed up on the beach.

For the last 20 years Coelho has been scouring the coast for treasures, working with everything from glass bottles to rusty tractor parts.

But he is best known for his sculptures made from gigantic whalebones.

BBC News went to meet Hamilton Coelho near the town of Chuí, on Brazil's final frontier.
