How women wowed US baseball fans during WW2

With millions of American men called up to fight in World War II fans of baseball in the US were deprived of a competitive league to follow.

To satisfy the demand and prevent the game from dying out, Philip K Wrigley, the chewing gum magnate, set up the All American Girls Professional Baseball League.

Mary Pratt was recruited to play for the Rockford Peaches. She tells Witness about the game, the lipstick lessons, the team songs and the "strawberries".
