Shivering could count as exercise, study finds
Shivering for 10-15 minutes a day could be equivalent to doing an hour of exercise, a study suggests.
Scientists from Sydney University placed volunteers in temperatures below 15C for the experiment.
They found that the process triggered hormonal changes producing brown fat - which burns energy to keep warm.
However Dr Paul Lee, one of the scientists behind the research, told BBC Radio 5 live's Up All Night: "It's important that if we do want to expose ourselves to cold, it is mild cold exposure."
