'Lab volcano' experiment footage
This video shows slow-motion footage from experiments into lightning, which is often spotted in the plumes of ash of volcanic eruptions.
It shows hot ash particles being accelerated through a 3cm wide vent, producing ideal conditions for the production of mini lightning bolts.
