ILM on creating Star Wars special effects
Industrial Light and Magic was founded in 1975 in order to create visual effects for the film Star Wars.
Since then it has pioneered the use of visual effects and worked on some of the world's biggest films including Jurassic Park, Terminator 2: Judgement Day, Avengers: Age of Ultron as well as the Star Wars films.
In 2014 the company opened a branch in London and the team worked on around 400 effects shots in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
BBC Click's Spencer Kelly spoke to visual effects supervisor Mike Mulholland about the process of working on the film and creating effects that would satisfy the franchise's fans.
