Richards: 'Targeting Gaddafi not allowed under UN'

The Chief of the Defence staff General Sir David Richards has said targeting Colonel Gaddafi is not allowed under the UN resolution to impose a no-fly zone in Libya.

That appeared to contradict defence Secretary Liam Fox who said it was a possibility and Foreign Secretary William Hague who has refused to rule it out.

Speaking to the BBC, the General also emphasised how closely the nations taking part in the attack on Libya are working together.
