William Hague: 'Gaddafi regime in for a surprise'

British Foreign Secretary William Hague has said Colonel Muammar Gaddafi is "in for a surprise" if he thinks there is a split within the coalition enforcing a no-fly zone in Libya.

Mr Hague said Nato would take over responsibility from the United States for the operation "within days", amid a rumoured dispute over who polices UN resolution 1973.

Under the resolution passed last week, Western and Arab nations have carried out six days of air strikes to impose the no-fly zone, in a bid to prevent air attacks on civilians by Gaddafi's regime.
