Clean up begins after anti-cuts demo in Trafalgar Square

Violent clashes between police and protesters in central London were broken up in the early hours of this morning.

Officers are blaming the trouble on a small minority of activists. More than 200 people were arrested followed a largely peaceful demonstration by hundreds of thousands of people against the government's spending cuts.

The BBC's John McManus was in Trafalgar Square as the clean-up operation got under way.
