Police questions over US 'supercop' advising government

Senior police officers have questioned the prime minister's plan to ask a former US police chief to advise ministers on tackling gang violence.

Acting Met chief Tim Godwin had accused MPs of "inconsistency of guidance", and other officers were uneasy at US expert Bill Bratton advising ministers.

It comes amid continuing tensions between the police and the government on how the riots in England last week were handled.
