Derek Barnett: 'UK has capable police leaders'
One of the more controversial consequences of last week's riots was David Cameron's decision to call in a former American police chief to advise the government on tackling gang violence.
Derek Barnett, president of the Police Superintendents' Association of England and Wales, spoke to Breakfast News and said: "One minute the prime minister says we have the best police force in the world and then the next minute he's inviting somebody from America.
"There needs to be some consistency in the messages coming from the political leaders".
