Petrol station owner's plea 'Please do not panic'

As the government comes under fire for its handling of a threatened fuel drivers strike, petrol station owner Shailesh Parekh said the sight of a tanker on his forecourt had been enough to cause a queue.

He told the BBC the government's handling of the issue had only made it worse.

He urged people not to panic: "There is fuel about but if we all panic the suppliers can't cope with the demand... and that just causes chaos."
