Nick Gibb: School strikes 'benefit nobody'

The two biggest teachers' unions have threatened to take strike action in England and Wales over plans for local pay, workloads, cuts and pensions.

The NUT and NASUWT represent 85% of teachers and said walkouts could take place in the autumn.

Reacting to the news, schools minister Nick Gibb said that strike action "benefits nobody" and that pensions needed to be reformed to be "fair to both the taxpayer and to teachers".
