Police pursue 120 leads on Jimmy Savile

Police investigating alleged sexual abuse of girls by the late Jimmy Savile are pursuing 120 separate lines of inquiry, Scotland Yard has said.

Commander Peter Spindler, head of specialist crime investigations, said police had recorded eight allegations against the presenter, including two rapes.

He told the BBC there could be up to 30 victims, spanning four decades.

''Savile had a sexual preference for teenage girls,'' he said.
