Sally Bercow 'surprised' over libel tweet ruling

The wife of the Speaker of the House of Commons, Sally Bercow, has said she is "surprised and disappointed" after the High Court ruled she had libelled Lord McAlpine.

The Conservative peer had been wrongly implicated in a sex abuse scandal by BBC2's Newsnight programme last November and Mrs Bercow subsequently published a defamatory tweet about him.
