Oakwood and Drake Hall prisoners 'working in call centres'

Inmates at two prisons in England are being paid to work in call centres, it has been revealed.

The inmates at HMP Oakwood, near Wolverhampton, and Drake Hall, in Staffordshire, are employed to carry out market research for insurance companies, as part of a rehabilitation scheme designed to improve their work prospects on release.

The Ministry of Justice insists that prisoners do not have access to sensitive information and do not ask members of the public about their valuables.

Jeremy Cooke reports.
