BBC Trust denies former DG pay-off claims

The BBC Trust's chairman Lord Patten has denied claims that he misled parliament over excessive executive pay-offs.

In a letter to MPs investigating the payments, former director general Mark Thompson said the Trust knew about and agreed contentious severance packages.

Earlier, BBC head of human resources Lucy Adams said she made a mistake when she told MPs she did not know about an email about pay-offs to top executives.

David Sillito reports.
