Burkas not acceptable in schools or courts, says Tory MP

Conservative MP Dr Sarah Wollaston says women should not be allowed to wear burkas in schools or courts.

Dr Wollaston said she "rejected the notion that this was about freedom of choice" and highlighted concerns about girls coming under pressure to wear a full-face veil.

It comes after Birmingham Metropolitan College lifted a ban on pupils wearing full-face veils, which sparked calls by Liberal Democrat Jeremy Browne for a debate on the issue.

Dr Wollaston said the move by Birmingham Metropolitan College was "completely wrong".
