Daniel Pelka murder: Police criticise 'nasty' parents

A senior police officer has described murdered four year-old Daniel Pelka's parents as "manipulative, nasty and cruel".

Garry Forsyth, Assistant Chief Constable at West Midlands Police, admitted there were "missed opportunities" after a serious case review found "no professional tried sufficiently hard enough" to talk to Daniel.

He said: "We didn't actually do as much with Daniel as we had the opportunity to do."
