Firefighters to strike ahead of Bonfire Night

The public face no additional risk from the decision by firefighters in England and Wales to stage a strike, according to Fire Brigades Union (FBU)

FBU assistant general secretary Andy Dark told BBC News that a walk out between 18.30 and 23:00 GMT on Friday would go ahead.

The dispute is over plans to raise the age of retirement from 55 to 60, with the union demanding assurance about terms of employment.
