UK storm: Power restored to Kent village

The Met Office has issued a yellow alert ahead of heavy rain and wind on Monday, as efforts to clear up damage caused by Christmas storms continue.

Energy firms say some of the 4,000 properties still without electricity after Christmas storms will be without power until next week.

One of the worst affected counties was Kent, where some residents in the village of Yalding had been without power since Christmas Eve.

Geraldine Brown, from Yalding Parish Council, said UK Power Networks had restored electricity to most homes.
