Former British soldier: Why I want to fight IS in Syria

A former British soldier has said he is preparing to go to Syria to train and help the Kurdish Peshmerga fight IS.

Speaking to Sima Kotecha, the soldier, who did not want to be identified, said he wanted to go as it was a fight against terrorism.

The British government advises against all travel to Syria and has said that taking part in a conflict overseas, no matter what side you are fighting for, could be an offence under both criminal and terror laws.
