More than 2m children living in poverty

Government figures have shown that 2.3 million children in the UK are living in relative poverty.

The Department for Work and Pensions said that 100,000 fewer children are living in poverty, although the proportion - almost one in six - was unchanged from 2011-12 to 2013-14.

Work and Pensions Secretary Iain Duncan Smith said UK poverty levels were the "lowest since the mid-1980s" but charities said proposed welfare changes would leave families worse off.
