Lord Janner to face historical sex abuse prosecution

Labour peer Lord Janner will face prosecution for historical child sex offences after an independent QC overruled the decision by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).

Prosecutors had announced in April that the 86-year-old former MP would not be charged because of his severe form of dementia.

But following a review requested by alleged victims, it is now felt to be "in the public interest" that criminal court proceedings will take place.

Lord Janner has always denied the charges.
