Police 'inadequate' on child abuse, says report

Police in England and Wales have been accused of failing to carry out effective investigations into allegations of child abuse and neglect.

A damning report by HM Inspectorate of Constabulary found the police response in more than a third of cases involving children was inadequate.

Senior officers admit the service has to fundamentally change its approach.
