Farming unions call for government support

Farming unions from across the UK have held an emergency meeting to discuss milk prices.

The "urgent summit" follows widespread protests by farmers over the price they are paid for milk by supermarkets and other buyers.

National Farmers' Union President Meurig Raymond called on the government to provide more support.

"I believe there is at long last the recognition of the dire straits farmers are finding themselves in," he said.
