Election 2015: Key contests in the North East & Cumbria

With the 2015 general election campaign under way, dozens of candidates are now chasing votes across the North East and Cumbria.

Following months of unofficial campaigning, the five-and-a-half week race for No 10 - which commentators say could be the most unpredictable election in a generation - has begun.

And although the political landscape in the North East and Cumbria is currently dominated by Labour, there are seats that could be critical to the result.
