Yalding flood defences 'in place by 2022'

A Kent village that was devastated by floods in 2013 may have to wait seven years for promised defences, the new head of the Environment Agency has said.

Sir James Bevan, who visited Yalding soon after taking on the role, said the village would get the best protection but the agency was still working out what that was.

"We are looking at a range of options but I am confident that by 2022 we will have new schemes in place," he told BBC South East Today's Yvette Austin.

She also spoke to Geraldine Brown, chairman of Yalding Parish Council.
