Lewisham A&E downgrade-row prompts government appeal

The government has been to the Court of Appeal in an attempt to push through plans to downgrade parts of Lewisham Hospital.

During the summer, a judge ruled Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt acted outside his powers when he decided the emergency and maternity units should be cut back.

BBC London's political correspondent Karl Mercer spoke to Dr Tony O'Sullivan, the director of children's services at the hospital and attended the hearing.
