Grand procession as new Oxford bishop is inaugurated

The new bishop of Oxford has walked through the city to his inauguration ceremony at Christ Church Cathedral.

Right Reverend Steven Croft is the 43rd bishop of Oxford and formally took up his post in July.

The service marked the beginning of his ministry in the Thames Valley, overseeing the Church of England in Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire.

The procession through the centre of Oxford, from St Michael at the Northgate, marks the role of the bishop in the life of the city.
