Durham University telescope experts use giant helium balloon

A giant balloon as big as a football stadium is set to carry a telescope to the edge of space to measure the properties of dark matter.

Experts at Durham University, in collaboration with Nasa, have developed SuperBIT, which will carry the new kind of astronomical telescope.

The project is expected to be completed by next spring and trials have already begun.
