Knitting group creates props and costumes for show

Knitters from north-east of England circles came together to create costumes and props for a theatre production.

The project for ballet Lorent's The Velveteen Rabbit provided an outlet and regular social meet up.

"It got people out of their homes, it's got people interacting with different things," said group member Linda Sharpe.

The knitters collaborated for 12 weeks under the creative leadership of fashion designer Nasir Mazhar, creating costumes and props from wool.

Each woollen item plays a key part in the show, which tours the North East in spring next year.
