Northern Ireland launches 'bag levy'

A new levy on carrier bags in Northern Ireland comes into effect on Monday.

The money raised from the 5p charge will be spent on environmental projects, although ministers say the main aim of the scheme is to cut waste.

Northern Ireland is the second part of the UK to impose the measure, after Wales introduced a similar charge in 2011.
