Clegg welcomes 'fair' approach to fees
Deputy Prime Minister and Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg has said that proposals to remove the cap on university tuition fees need to be "fair and sustainable".
Mr Clegg, along with other Lib Dem MPs, campaigned against any increase in tuition fees in England before the general election.
The proposals set out by Lord Browne suggest a free market with charges of up to £12,000 a year for a degree course, however universities that charge more than £6,000 a year would lose a proportion of the fee to help cover the cost of student borrowing.
