Treasury Minister defends cutting debt despite economy shrinking

Treasury Minister Justine Greening explained how the shock contraction of the UK economy proved that the government was right to "have a plan to reduce this deficit to start tackling our debt."

She said the figures for the last quarter were disappointing, but it was not unusual to see a quarter of negative growth when coming out of recession.
