Nick Clegg explains Alternative Vote 'fairness'

Deputy prime minister Nick Clegg claimed a change to the Alternative Vote (AV) vote system would "snuff out extremism" and make MPs work harder.

He was questioned by Andrew Neil why the Yes campaign for the 5 May referendum were targeting BNP leader Nick Griffin in posters.

The deputy prime minister explained why he thought AV was more fair, and he claimed only 1.6 per cent of the electorate made the difference in the last general election
