IVF: Lord Winston on private fertility treatment costs

Fertility expert Robert Winston claimed there was "massive profiteering" by private firms involved in IVF treatment.

He said centralising NHS fertility services could save hundreds of pounds, and that initial fees of £3,000 being charged to London couples seeking help outside the NHS could not be justified.

Lord Winston spoke after a Daily Politics film examined why some couples in England are not given access to three rounds of IVF treatment on the NHS, as NICE has recommended.
