EU referendum vote: Tim Montgomerie and Sir George Young

Conservative Home website editor Tim Montgomerie said the Conservative rebels are more likely to do it again after they defied the prime minister over the calls for a EU referendum.

House of Commons leader Sir George Young MP said the party was more eurosceptic than in the 1990s when Europe troubled the party, and the latest intake of MPs was more rebellious than those in previous Parliaments.

While Derek Hatton, the former Labour leader of Liverpool City Council, said the EU issue was not on most people's list of priorities.
