Labour backs primary school foreign language lessons

The shadow education secretary backed a government plan to make learning a second language compulsory for pupils in English schools from the age of seven, and suggested they should start even younger.

But Stephen Twigg was asked why the last Labour government had made it easier for secondary school pupils to drop language learning.
