Conservative conference: Cameron on building houses

The prime minister said the Conservatives were the party of home ownership and that Britain needs to build more houses.

He spoke of doubling the discount for buying council houses and helping first-time buyers get a 95% mortgage in his speech to the party conference.

He said the average age for someone buying a home without any help for their parents was 33, and said: "We cannot let this go on."
