Arts funding: Philip Booth on government culture money

Arts funding should be reviewed as it was a "price we all have to pay" said Philip Booth, of the Institute of Economic Affairs.

He looked back to times when theatres received no public money and still pulled in the crowds.

The Arts Council distributed £310m of taxpayers' money in 2012 and 2013 - a cut by £40m on the previous financial year - and the bulk of its money is spent in London.
