Arts funding: Jude Kelly on ticket prices and arts subsidies

Subsidising the cost of the arts allows some people to to attend cultural events who would "never afford premium price tickets" said the artistic director of London's Southbank Centre.

Jude Kelly said cultural subsidies cost 25p per week per taxpayer, and added: 'We don't want education for the few, we don't want health for the few, we don't want arts for the few."

She debated funding of the arts with Philip Booth, of the Institute of Economic Affairs, after watching his Daily Politics film on the subject.
