Budget 2013: David Starkey on UK debt and austerity

There could be lessons from the 1930s for the UK - how it escaped austerity with cuts to welfare and building homes nearly a century ago, claims David Starkey.

In his film for This Week, the historian claimed George Osborne was following "the disastrous New Labour route map" and leading Britain towards a "national debt of unheard of levels", as he called for an emergency stop and a U-turn on economic policies.
